Prior to the practice of Asana, are the practices of the Yamas and Niyamas which function as a foundation for the practice of yoga (Patanjali, 1999). The first of the Yamas is Ahimsa which actually suggests prevent physical violence.


Ahimsa describes a universal value that can be summarized as ‘do no harm’. Ahimsa represents an intricate belief structure typical to Hinduism and Buddhism that links unsafe actions to adverse karma. Ahimsa puts on thought, word and deed towards all living things (Lasater, n.d.).

Gossiping about somebody is doing harm.   3. Practice kindness and empathy to yourself by not hurting yourself in order to get into a particular posture. In shorts, don’t push your body to the point of discomfort.

  4. Practice kindness towards your fellow professionals by keeping your eyes by yourself mat and focusing on your very own practice.

  5. Practice kindness to your fellow specialists by staying on your mat, switching off your mobile phone before course, and practicing yoga rules.

  6. Practice kindness in the direction of your educator by thanking them. If there’s something you especially took pleasure in, take the time to tell them.

Once you get the hang of Ahimsa, it becomes a growing number of natural to think and behave with empathy. Remember that everybody you satisfy is going through troubles. As the Buddha informed us, all living things suffer. By practicing Ahimsa you not just assist to alleviate suffering, but you do not add additional suffering to the lives of other beings. Off the mat, it’s usually best to start by practicing empathy to individuals you like, or feel neutral about such as sales clerks, other drivers, and member of the family. Ahimsa to those we do not such as. Start with non-harming. Everyone has individuals in their lives that are more tough to obtain in addition to than others.
